I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Here we pick up with Tim Barnabus and Clara Calland after they leave the Cuttlefish in Australia.

While waiting for the Cuttlefish to be services, all the men take jobs in Australia.  Tim goes to work underground, in the tunnels, assuming it will be pretty much like working the Cuttlefish.  He's treated poorly due to being Black and is soon thrown off the Mole, to strike out on his own in the desert.

Clara's mother falls ill and Clara is left with the local governor.

Meanwhile, Duke Malcolm has transported Clara's father to a prison in Eastern Australia to bait Clara to come see him so that the Duke can get her mother's invention.

Clara and Tim manage to find each other and try to stay out of trouble while helping her parents, making sure Westralia isn't invaded at the same time.

I really loved CUTTLEFISH, but this story was a bit too descriptive of the lands to keep me entertained.  I think I wanted more of the human aspect.  It's still good and hopefully there will be a third that's an excellent blend of the two: human aspect and descriptiveness.
