UNWHOLLY picks up where UNWIND left off.  Connor is running the Graveyard now but with a new name and a new arm.  Risa is running the medic area in the Graveyard, but in a wheelchair.  See, they won't unwind her if she's disabled.  Hayden is seventeen now and under the new law can't be unwound, but he's sticking around to run the Graveyard's communications center.  Lev?  He's still working through his short career as a clapper.

New Characters:

Miracolina - a tithe, born only to provide a part for her brother.  She's ok with it.  I don't really care for her that much, she just wasn't personable.

Starkey - a storked kid, he's a troublemaker, cold-hearted, sneaky, but a charmer.  He's the one we'll all hate.

Trace - a military beouf, he works as Connor's right hand man.  Trace has a lot going on and I did like him.

Nelson - not really new.  Remember the juvey-cop that Connor tranq'd with his own gun?  That's Nelson.  Now he's tracking Connor, Risa and Lev.

Cam -the world's first person solely made out of parts.  He's a 'rewind'.  It's really interesting how his language skills develop since he's received so many different parts.

The characters, new and old, are fantastic.  Each of them are fully fleshed out and caused me some very strong feelings, both good and bad.

There are news articles throughout the book and combined with the storyline, it brings out more details explaining how things turned out the way they did.  The craziest thing is how Shusterman uses stuff that's really happened or been researched.  For instance - the Storking Law that children could be dropped off at Fire Stations with no questions asked.  That actually happened in Nebraska - they had a Safe Haven Law that stated that 'children' could be dropped off with no questions asked.  Parents dropped off kids of all ages, up to 17 years old!  The law was reworded to say you could drop off children no more than 72 hours old.

I think that the biggest question brought up in this book is - when you're unwound, what happens to your soul?  Does Cam have a soul since he is a rewind?

I hope the last book doesn't take five years to come out!
